This case study shows the experiences of farmers in Germany who switched from tobacco cultivation to growing herbs. Tobacco processing companies are also part of this transition.

The author visited the Palatinate and conducted interviews. One farmer and the executive director of a herb processing plant answered his questions. Which are the main factors leading to a successful transition? How profitable is the herb business? Which changes do the farmers see in their daily life after exiting tobacco?
