This 44-pages index shows how and how much the tobacco industry is interfering with political decision-makers in Germany. As a case study, the events surrounding the tobacco tax increase bill passed in 2021 will be highlighted.

Using a questionnaire developed by the Southeast Asian Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA), different areas of political decision making are analysed and substantiated with examples. Still, the tobacco industry exerts big influence on political decisions in Germany.
